Destination Bach

“We make the reservations, book the hotels, do the budgets, create the itinerary all for less $$$ than you would spend planning yourself. All so you can focus on the fun.”

I was approached by the owners of Destination Bach, a new company that creates bachelor and bachelorette party packages to make the party planning experience easier for guests, to create their logo and branding and to design their first mobile app. After running their business with a simple website for a year, they wanted to create an app that allowed them to automate more of the process and give future guests a unique experience in planning a party for their friends. They assembled a team to design and build the app and an admin panel to make the owners’ maintenance of the app easy and carefree, with me at helm of design and branding. The owner selected a development company that has developers in Los Angeles, Portland, and Ukraine to build the app for both major mobile platforms.

IN THE DETAILS

Destination Bach is an app that takes the difficult decision making and planning a pre-wedding party out of the equation. It’s open to all genders and can be used throughout the United States. After doing a brand interview and collecting inspiration from the owners, I got to work designing the logo. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logo and Adobe InDesign to put the branding handbook together. The final logo and part of the brand handbook is shown below.

Destination Bach Branding Examples

After creating a logo and brand experience they loved, I got to work designing the app.  I started with wireframes and presented them to the owners and the development team to check for any technical limitations and to confirm the scope of the project.

Wireframes

After the wireframes were approved, I moved on to high fidelity designs. I used Figma to create the screens for both the users and the admins. The users would use the app to find and book party packages in the city of their choice. The admins (owners) would maintain the system so that users always had an up-to-date listing of what was available to book.
I worked with the development team to make updates as needed and used Slack to communicate with the team and Figma to share design specs.

OUTCOMES

After almost a year of design, testing, and development, the Destination Bach app is set to be launched September 2020. Valuable user feedback and analytics will be collected in a beta to make updates before the app is launched throughout the US.
